Introduction

Barcelona ( SPAIN)

The city has a population of almost 4,000,000. Until the 14th century it was a small city of about 35,000 inhabitants, with a high density inside its medieval walls. In the 17th century its appearance began to change. The city continued to change and two centuries later the walls were demolished.

This was the determining factor for the future development of the city and its public spaces, as new urban spaces have spread outside the original limits. Initially they were built in Gothic style, in accordance with its medieval character. In more recent times their design has adapted to the new ages.
