Curitiba is an excellent example of comprehensive urban-regional planning that incorporates sustainability. In the town centre, the pedestrian streets have markings on the paving to facilitate the movement of the visually impaired. The transport system is comfortable and safe and is used by most of the population, including the disabled, and the “tube-stations” provide the best conditions for wheelchair users.
In Barcelona, hundreds of squares, old and new, have been made accessible and a high percentage of buses are adapted, using the “kneeling” system.
